A Odontologia do Esporte é uma nova especialidade odontológica, que tem, dentre os seus objetivos, prevenir, tratar e reabilitar atletas. Uma das atuações do cirurgião-dentista que atua nessa área é a confecção de protetores faciais e bucais individualizados. Atualmente, existe um maior número de investigação científica sobre protetores bucais que os faciais; consequentemente, os bucais são normatizados, e os faciais, ainda não. Eles são utilizados somente depois de o atleta ter sofrido traumas, porque evitam que o osso sofra refratura ou deslocamento, permitindo ao atleta não se manter temporariamente afastado da prática dos esportes... Sports Dentistry is a new dental specialty whose goal is to prevent, treat and rehabilitate athletes. One of the activities of the dentist that acts with the Sports Dentistry is the confection of individualized facial masks and mouthguards. There is a greater number of scientific research on mouthguards than on facial masks, as a result of which mouthguards are normalized and facial masks not yet. Atualmente, a literatura disponível sobre Odontologia do Esporte e estudos relacionados com atletas de futebol e a saúde bucal ainda são escassos, e basicamente referem-se ao uso de protetores e traumas bucais. Este estudo tem como objetivo primário demonstrar a importância do cirurgião dentista dentro da equipe médica dos clubes, e como objetivo secundário, avaliar o índice de CPO-D dos jogadores de futebol profissional. A pesquisa obteve através do índice de CPO-D uma média de 6,7. E seus componentes: 3,8 cariado; 0,6 perdidos e 2,3 obturado. Para melhorar a situação observada neste estudo, recomenda-se a inclusão de um cirurgião dentista como membro do departamento médico para realizar métodos de prevenção, como a utilização de protetores bucais e, principalmente, a manutenção da saúde bucal dos jogadores (AU).
Currently the available literature on Sports Dentistry and studies related to soccer athletes and oral health are still scarce, and basically refer to the use of protectors and buccal traumas. The primary objective of this research is to demonstrate the importance of the dentist within the club healthcare team, and the secondary objective is to evaluate the DMFT index of professional soccer players. The survey obtained through the DMFT index an average of 6.7, and its components: 3.8 decayed, 0.6 lost, and 2.3 obturated. To improve the situation observed in this study, it is recommended the inclusion of a dentist as a member of the medical department to carry out prevention methods, such as the use of mouthguards and mainly maintenance of player's oral health (AU).

Na técnica convencional de cimentação em prótese fixa, o adesivo é fotopolimerizado somente na fase de cimentação. Caso a dentina seja contaminada anteriormente, essa adesão é prejudicada. A dentina recém-preparada é considerada o substrato ideal para adesão. O objetivo desse trabalho é descrever e discutir essa técnica de aplicação clínica que contribui para o aumento da resistência e ajuda a evitar a sensibilidade pós-operatória. Conclusão: A técnica de selamento imediato é uma forma simples de proteger o elemento dentário durante a fase de provisório e promover um aumento na resistência final de união entre o tecido dentário e o material restaurador após a cimentação adesiva, sendo importante na diminuição da sensibilidade pós-operatória. Proporcionando ao paciente conforto (e ao dentista, segurança) até o momento da restauração indireta.
In fixed prosthesis conventional cementation technique, the adhesive is photopolymerized only in the phase of cementation. If dentin is previously contaminated, this adhesion is impaired. The freshly prepared dentin is considered the ideal substrate for adhesion. The newly prepared dentin is considered the ideal substrate for adhesion. The objective of this study is to describe and discuss this technique of clinical application that contributes to the increase of resistance and helps to avoid postoperative sensitivity. Conclusion: The immediate sealing technique is a simple way to protect the dental element during the provisional phase and to promote an increase in final bond strength between the dental tissue and the restorative material after adhesive cementation and it is important to decrease postoperative sensitivity. Providing comfort to the patient (and safety to the dentist) until the time of indirect restoration.
